Creating art from geometry
Fractal designs and platonic solids

Inspired by the geometry of our universe, each piece in this collection is quilted with a different fractal design based on one of the five platonic solids.

Individually designed and handmade, the Astar Collection contains pillows, a bench, a stool and a barstool. Each features a quilted, fractal design that honours one of the five platonic solids that were named after Plato, who ascribed them as representative of classical elements.

After I identified the clear-cut repetition of these shapes throughout nature and expressed in various art forms, I took inspiration and went to my own drawing board. From the radial pattern of a flower to Metatron’s Cube and the patterns of ancient mosaics, these shapes are the building blocks of what we see every day in the world around us.
